B – IT’S TIME FOR RECESS

1. Complete the vocabulary lists on “WORK AND PLAY” with the words from the box. The first ones are done for you.

2. What do they do at recess? Read exercise 1 and exercise 3, in the student’s book. Then check what activities Vietnamese students do, what activities American students do and what activities students in both countries do at recess. Then write sentences about these activities.

Example:

Eating is a common activity at recess in both countries.

 

3. Complete the passage. Use the correct form of the verbs in brackets.

WORKDAY

My father is a driver. He works (work) for a company in Ha Noi. Every day, he (a)_____(go) to work at 6 a.m. and (b)_____(come) back home at 5 p.m. Sometimes he (c)_____ (go) to work earlier and (d)_____ (get) home later. He often (e)_____(go) to Hai Phong on business. He never (f)_____. (travel) to Ho Chi Minh City or Hue. He (g)_____ (love) his job very much.

NOW

At the moment he isn’t working (not work). He (h)_____(relax) at home. He (i)_____(listen) to music and (j)_____ (read) a newspaper. He (k)_____(wait) for the phone call from one of his friends.

Write about what you usually do on your workdays, and what you are doing at the moment.

 

4. Rewrite the sentences using the word(s) in brackets. The first one is done for you.

5. Underline the correct answers.

CHOOSING RUNNING SHOES

First, decide how (a, many/ much/ more) you want to spend on your shoes. Then find a pair which (b. to fit/ fit/ fits) you well. Be prepared to try (c. different/ differ/ differently) sizes in different types of shoes.
