Objectives:
1. Educational aim: Students can talk about their family and other families
+ Students can ask and answer about household chores and family
+ Students discuss their ideas about the true of a happy family
2. Knowledge:
– General knowledge: By the end of the lesson students can practise a dialogue about a happy family
– Language: asking for and giving information from a passage
– New words: words related to the topic
Task 1. Read the following sentences and tick (✓) the ones that apply to you and your family.(Đọc những câu sau và đánh dấu vào những câu phù hợp với bạn và gia đình bạn)
□ 1. In my family, only my father works.
(Trong gia đình của tôi, chỉ có bố đi làm.)
□ 2. Members of my family share the household chores.
(Các thành viên trong gia đình chia sẻ việc nhà với nhau.)
□ 3. My responsibility in the family is to wash the dishes.
(Trách nhiệm của tôi trong gia đình là rửa bát.)
□ 4. In my family, the interest we share closely is watching football.
(Trong gia đình tôi, sở thích chung của mọi người là xem bóng đá.)
□ 5. I often share my personal secrets with my father.
(Tôi thường chia sẻ bí mật riêng tư với bố.)
□ 6. I always talk to my parents before making an important decision.
(Tôi luôn hỏi ý kiến bố mẹ trước khi đưa ra quyết định quan trọng.)
Task 2. Work in pairs. Prepare a list of questions to ask another student to find out whether his/her family life is like yours. You want to know:( Làm việc theo cặp. Chuẩn bị danh sách những câu hỏi để hỏi một học sinh khác để biết đời sống gia đình của bạn ấy có giống với gia đình của bạn hay không.)
– who works in the family
– who does the household chores
– your friend’s responsibility in the family
– the interest the family members share closely
– the person your friend often shares his/her secrets with
– the person your friend talks to before making an important decision
Example:
Who works in your family?

A: In your family who works?
B: Only my father.
A: Where does he work?
B: He teaches in a secondary school.
A: I see. So who does the household chores in your family?
B: All members. I mean my father, mother and myself. We share the household chores together: each fulfills one’s own duties.
A: What’s your responsibility?
B: I’m in charge of sweeping the floor, washing-up, and taking out the garbage.
A: What interest do your family members share closely?
B: We usually share with one another joys and sorrows, good or bad experiences or problems we encounter.
A: Who do you often share your secrets with?
B. My mother.
A: Why not with your father?
B: As you know, the mother is the person who is the easiest and most sympathetic to share our secrets due to her motherly love. Right?
A: Alright. I see. Who do you talk to before making an important decision?
B: Usually with my father and mother. The more ideas, the better the decision.
A: You can say it again!

Task 3. Work with a different partner. Use the questions you have formed to ask your partner about his/her family life. Note down the answers in the table.(Làm việc với một bạn cùng học khác. I’ve just had a talk with Minh, my classmate. In his family, only his father works, and his mother does most of the household chores. His main responsibility is cleaning the floor, sweeping the yard and taking out the garbage, and sometimes helping his mother with the ironing of the clothes. His family’s members enjoy watching children’s programs. Whenever he has a problem, he talks with his father, but he tells his mother his secrets. When he wants to make any important decision, he asks his parents for advice. He said that his family is a very close-knit and happy one and has a great influence on him, especially in the formation of personality.

Mình vừa trò chuyện với Minh, bạn cùng lớp. Trong gia đình bạn ấy, chỉ có bố đi làm và mẹ bạn ấy làm hầu hết việc nhà. Trách nhiệm chính của bạn ấy là lau sàn nhà, quét sân và đổ rác, và thỉnh thoảng giúp mẹ là (ủi) quần áo. Các thành viên trong gia đình thích xem chương trình thiếu nhi. Khi có vấn đề phát sinh, bạn ấy nói với bố nhưng bạn ấy lại kể bí mật với mẹ. Khi bạn ấy muốn đưa ra quyết định quan trọng, bạn ấy xin lời khuyên từ bố mẹ. Bạn ấy nói gia đình bạn ấy rất gắn bó và hạnh phúc và có ảnh hưởng lớn đến bạn ấy, đặc biệt trong việc hình thành nhân cách.
