C. SPEAKING
Shusi: Which university should you apply for if you want to be a teacher of English language?
You: I think the University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam
National University, Hanoi.
Shusi: What do you have to do in order to get a place at the university?
You: First I have to pass the National School Leaving Examination at the end of
grade 12 with the best scores as I could. We do not know the required score to the university before the marking completes.
Shusi: Oh, tell me about the National School Leaving Examination, please. I’d like to know when it takes place, how many exam papers are and how long each paper lasts.
You: Well, as usual it often takes place in July. I’m very worried about it
because there’ll be some changes for the 2017 National School Leaving Examination. The number of exam papers is less than before but it will be more challenging with three separate papers such as Literature done in 120 minutes, Maths in 90 minutes and English language in 60 minutes. And two integrated papers of social and natural sciences. The paper of social science includes History, Geography, and Civic Education. The one for natural science comprises Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Each paper of sciences is done in 150 minutes, 50 minutes for each subject.
Shusi: Oh, it must be tough. How do you get the results?
You: By post.
Shusi: When will you get the letter of acceptance?
You: In September.
Shusi: Thank you very much for the information.
You: My pleasure.
