Hi, class. Come into the next building of the Temple of Literature and let me tell you about Chu Van An. Chu Van An was considered the most famous teacher at the Imperial Academy and one of the most remarkable educators in Vietnamese history.

He was bom in 1292, in Thanh Tri District, Ha Noi. He was an honest man. He passed the royal examination. First he opened a school in his home village. Then, he became a teacher at the Imperial Academy. He taught many talented and successful students for the nation.

Later, he resigned and returned to his home village. For the rest of his life, Chu Van An continued his teaching career and wrote books. He died in 1370.

Emperor Ly Thanh Tong founded The Temple of Literature in 1070. Now it is considered as one of the historic and cultural sites of Vietnam. And then in 1076 Emperor Ly Nhan Tong built The Imperial Academy as the first university of Vietnam.

In 1484, Emperor Le Thanh Tong built the first Doctor’s stone tablet there to memorize the devotion of Doctors. Now it is recognized as the World heritage by UNESCO. In 2003, the Ha Noi People Committee built four statues of Emperor Ly Thanh Tong, Emperor Ly Nhan Tong, King Le Thanh Tong, and Chu Van An who founded and developed Temple of Literature – Imperial Academy.

Vua Lý Thánh Tông đã cho thành lập Văn Miếu vào năm 1070. Bây giờ nó được xem như là một trong những điểm văn hóa lịch sử của Việt Nam. Sau đó vào năm 1076, vua Lý Nhân Tông cho xây dựng Quốc Tử Giám. Nó được xem là trường đại học đầu tiên của Việt Nam.

Năm 1484, vua Lê Thánh Tông đã cho xây bia Tiến sĩ đầu tiên để tưởng nhở sự cống hiến của các tiến sĩ. Nó được UNESCO công nhận là Di sản Thế giới. Năm 2003 úy ban Nhân dân Hà Nội đã cho xây 4 bức tượng Vua Lý Thánh Tông, Vua Lý Nhân Tông, Vua Lê Thánh Tông và Chu Văn An, là những người đã xây dựng và phát triển Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám.
